By using IslaTodo (islatodo.com), Island Happenings (islandhappenings.net), or the IslaTodo native mobile apps, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
IslaTodo is a tourism platform serving the Dominican Republic North Coast. It includes a vendor directory, a booking marketplace, an AI concierge, daily guides published by Island Happenings, and a public-safety alert system. The service is free to use for tourists and travelers.
Our safety alert system aggregates information from authoritative sources (PTWC, USGS, NOAA NHC, EMSC, Defensa Civil DR, vetted local authorities). It supplements but does not replace official government warnings. IslaTodo is not responsible for the accuracy, timeliness, or completeness of any alert. Always follow direct government guidance during emergencies.
IslaTodo facilitates connections between travelers and verified local businesses. We are not a party to the actual service contract between a traveler and a vendor. Disputes about service quality, refunds, or delivery are between the traveler and the vendor.
Vendors who list services agree to: deliver the services as described, honor confirmed bookings, respond to inquiries within 24 hours, and accept the platform's review and rating system.
Reviews must be based on actual experience with the vendor. We reserve the right to moderate, remove, or refuse to publish reviews that contain: profanity, threats, slander, racial slurs, false claims, defamation, promotional content, contact information, or content unrelated to the actual service experience.
Vendors have a right of reply on every review and may dispute reviews they believe are unfair. Disputed reviews are reviewed by IslaTodo administrators; outcomes range from publication unchanged to permanent removal.
Vendors may rate the customers they serve (the "Uber pattern"). These vendor-side ratings are private — visible only to other vendors when the same customer requests future services. They are not shown to the customer. Customers with persistent low ratings (no-shows, abusive behavior) may have their access to vendor services restricted.
Payments are processed by Stripe. By making a payment, you agree to Stripe's terms of service. IslaTodo charges vendors a small percentage of completed booking value (15% for catalog bookings) — travelers pay nothing to IslaTodo directly.
Refunds for cancelled or undelivered services are at the vendor's discretion, mediated by IslaTodo where needed. Stripe's chargeback policies apply for credit card disputes.

Vetted local authorities (mayors' offices, hotel emergency coordinators, certified property managers) may issue scoped safety alerts through their authority account. By accepting authority status, the issuer agrees to the same liability framework as IslaTodo: alerts must be based on legitimate safety information and may not be used for marketing, defamation of competitors, or other non-safety purposes. Misuse results in account termination and potential legal liability.
IslaTodo is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither IslaTodo nor its operators are liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you have paid to IslaTodo (which is typically zero, as the service is free to travelers).
For safety alerts specifically: IslaTodo is a redistribution platform. We are not liable for false alerts originating from upstream sources we cannot control, nor for the consequences of acting (or not acting) on any alert.
We may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these terms. You may delete your account at any time via app settings or by emailing [email protected].
We may update these terms occasionally. Material changes are announced via in-app notification and on the home page at least 14 days before taking effect.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Dominican Republic. Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of DR courts. For users outside DR, your local consumer protection laws may also apply.
